directx installation failed with error '-9'. It is suggested that you restart your computer and then run DXsetup.exe located in bin\\directx in your eve folder.
this is the error i recieved and of course i attemped to run dxsetup, but immediately error's out, did i miss something??

The splash screen is displayed, then it vanishes and nothing happens. This is pretty close to this Wine issue except none of the given tips solved the problem for me.
Note that the trial version of Crossover Games led to exactly the same issue.
this may sound stupid, but i've seen that and it was due to an incomplete shortcut. are you going in through /home/(user-name)/.wine/drive_c/progr......./eve/eve.exe??? and launching from there? if that works for you make a new shortcut using a this route ... /home/(user-name)/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe"
complete command is wine "/home/mike/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe"

I tried both launching the app by double-clicking on the Eve.exe file (as well as the /home/(user-name)/.wine/drive_c/program files/eve//bin/Exefile.exe) and by using the following launchers: padsp wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1280x960 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1280x960 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"
